Good morning, Blazer Nation!
This weekend the freshman volleyball B team competed in a tournament at Turner High School. These ladies walked away with two losses and three wins for the day, ultimately placing them in 9th place out of a total 12 teams.
Our ladies started the day with pool play against St. James and Bonner Springs. Both of these teams were tough matches for our ladies, and resulted in two loses to start our morning. (St. James final scores: 8-25, 12-25; Bonner Springs final scores: 12-25, 23-25.) The results of these two games dropped our ladies from bracket play into consolation pool play. To end the day, our lady Blazers fought and won against St. Thomas Aquinas (25-16, 20-25, 16-14), Turner High (25-10, 25-14), and KC East Christian (16-25, 25-23, 15-11).
It was a VERY long day for our ladies, and with homecoming on all of their minds, it was a chaotic rush to get home from Turner following the end of our final pool play matches. (Our tournament ended at 6:00PM and homecoming began at 8:00PM). However, our ladies–in as much of a rush as they were–still took the time to gather one another together in front of our spirit section, line up, and end the day with our Alma Mater. It was truly a beautiful sight to see.
These ladies are back in action TONIGHT in a Quad at St. Thomas Aquinas. These are the last games of our season. Wish us luck, and try to make it out this evening if you can in order to help us finish out our season!
